Join our client’s team in Addis Ababa and take a lead role in helping their customers achieve sustainable growth. You will be implementing strong financial management and providing valuable insights through data analysis and transformation.

About the client:

Working with some of the world’s largest and most recognizable arts, entertainment and media rights holders to provide specialist consultancy services. 

These include services that support business operations, strategy development, M&A transactions + project management. 

A small but diverse business with experienced professionals in the US, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

The role:

You will start by working with a long term, US based customer – b2b technology media company that produces large scale conferences, summits and digital media such as YouTube shows – with a focus on voice technology and conversational AI.

As an extension of their team, you will manage and perform all aspects of their day to day accounting and financial management. In addition you will implement reporting systems that help them make strategic business decisions.

As you grow, you will also work with some of their client’s entertainment and media clients around the world for whom they provide transaction support. This will involve contributing financial analysis and forecasts to M&A material, and assisting with financial due diligence.

The role will be based in Addis Ababa, working closely with the Managing Partner. As their customer is based in the US, some level of flexibility in working hours will be required to be able to liaise with core staff on a daily basis (i.e. availability on US Eastern Time working hours for at least a few hours per day).


On behalf of clients:

  • Perform day to day accounting for media and entertainment clients
  • Maintain cash flow forecasts, ensuring the team successfully executes on daily cash management functions and providing guidance on optimizing cash balances
  • Manage corporate AP and AR processes
  • Monitor daily bank transactions
  • Maintain managerial accounting reports for strategy and decision-making
  • Prepare annual budgets and quarterly forecasts
  • Set up, track and manage Advertising & Promotion, and individual project budgets, in conjunction with marketing and operations teams
  • Prepare business cases to support commercial decisions (e.g. price changes, innovation etc)
  • Streamline internal processes and systems
  • Advise clients and respond to strategic questions using financial and operational data
  • Rethink finance and controlling process flows in order to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Ensure timely financial close process (monthly, quarterly, and annual year-end closes)

Essential experience and qualifications

  • An extremely confident English speaker
  • Masters degree in accounting or finance related subject, with a strong academic record
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in financial management and planning, with the ability to demonstrate career progression
  • High level of comfort with planning, budgeting and forecasting, navigating and managing a financial P&L, and delivering insight-driven commercial analysis
  • Ability to confidently interact with non-finance departments, understanding their key requirements and tailoring financial data to satisfy these requirements
  • Strong influencing skills, proactive in challenging and influencing the business based on insight, knowledge and fact
  • Highly motivated and able to embrace autonomy within the role 
  • Deep experience with with GAAP accounting standards
  • Experience with Quickbooks online is essential
